The Assignment…

The high-performance Sales Development Manager will manage business, identify, pursue, and close new opportunities within his/her academic territory. Strong technical knowledge of Next-Generation Targeted Sequencing and clinical research with understanding in genetic variability at the single cell level is a must. Ability to demonstrate technical credibility to influence key decisions on technology and product choices. Strong business acumen is required to build successful account and territory plans and translate territory strategy into business results. The ideal candidate will have a strong history of account relationships with key thought leaders in the Academic Next Gen Sequencing space.  Must be able to communicate technical information on single cell technologies to a sophisticated audience, and identify and propose solutions to the research community regarding the implementation of these technologies. The territory is comprised of Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, and Ontario, Canada. The candidate must live within his/her territory.

The Specifics…

Demonstrate technical acumen to consult with customers on technology solutions

  • Develop and manage to a business plan to meet/exceed business goals
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans, and provide accurate forecasts and reports of sales activity entering data into
  • Demonstrate funnel management skills with strong account management and closing skills
  • Territory Key Account Planning, market knowledge, competitive positioning
  • Understand scientific project needs and business needs of the customer to win the business
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of genetic analysis markets, products, and buying practices necessary to effectively compete in the territory
  • Utilize product and application knowledge to successfully conduct selling presentations

What’s Asked of You…

  • Minimum of five years sales experience in life science research, with capital equipment experience
  • Minimum of B.S. Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field
  • Proven track record winning business and establishing long term high level customer relationships
  • Excellent sales skills, including prospecting, negotiating, listening, and closing
  • Knowledge of Next Gen Sequencing
  • Must be willing to travel up to 60%
